A NORTH Yorkshire theatre group is appealing for information on a dying seaside art form for a historical exhibition.

The senior youth theatre group at Richmond's Georgian Theatre Royal is taking part in a Heritage Lottery-funded project to produce a touring exhibition on pierrot troupes in Filey from the late 1800s to the 1950s.

Along with four other youth groups from Yorkshire, the members have just over three months to collect and collate information for a local exhibition on their particular seaside resort.

These smaller exhibitions will then be edited into a single interactive exhibition which will tour the area.

The exhibition will include images and information, recordings of people's reminiscences, seaside sounds, projections of pierrot performances and an opportunity to dress up and try on the make-up.

Any information about the troupes would be useful, including memories of watching live of televised performances or reading newspaper reports, and anecdotes.

The children will go to Filey on three occasions before their exhibition is complete.

Anyone with memorabilia or memories of pierrot troupes from Filey who is are willing to share this information in a recorded interview should contact Laura Hannaway at the Georgian Theatre Royal on 01748 823710.
