THE X Factor live show rolled into the North-East last night, with stars including series winner Joe McElderry taking to the stage at the Newcastle Metro Radio Arena.

The South Shields teenager has shown his support for the 3 Rifles Wristband appeal, which is raising money for injured 3 Rifles soldiers and the families of those killed in action.

Other contestants have also been seen sporting the wristbands.

Last week, The Northern Echo launched a campaign to back the appeal. It has proved so popular that The Northern Echo’s offices in Darlington and Bishop Auckland sold out of wristbands twice. More stocks have been ordered.

Last night, the stars of X Factor performed to a sell out crowd. As well as 18- year-old McElderry, Olly Murs, Danyl Johnson and Lloyd Daniels were on stage.
