THE Memories room is undergoing a little of a tidy-up and, disgracefully, there are too many items that people have sent in that have never seen the light of day.
This photo came from a lady whose distant relations are on the picture. It is of EM Geldart's fish, game and poultry shop on Tubwell Row under the Covered Market in Darlington, where Timpson's shoe repairers is today.
Little is known about the picture unless you can help. The shop was run by Ethel "Hettie" Metcalf Geldart (nee Heslop) (1881-1947), who was married to Timothy Geldart (1881-1945), a railway driver. They had five children, but emigrated to Canada.
