A YOUNG farmer has beaten more than 300 entrants to be named Britain’s sexiest farmer.

neAnna Simpson, 25, of Windy Hill Farm, Hutton Rudby,ar Stokesley, North Yorkshire polled the most votes in an online competition for the Farmer’s Weekly magazine, beating four other finalists.

Miss Simpson said she entered the competition to show that farming is not just about men, muck and wellies.

The sales advisor for Green Farm Health, which specialises in animal feed and farm equipment, in Thirsk and Northallerton, won the Miss Newcastle title in 2007.

Miss Simpson said: “My auntie suggested I should apply, so my sister and I entered, but I never expected anything to come of it. It feels great to have won and I love having the title that comes with it. I love getting stuck in on the farm, but also like to get dolled up for fun girly nights out with my sisters.

“I’d quite enjoy doing some more modelling but I don’t know if there is a career in modelling sheep worming tablets.

“Perhaps I could become the face of a tractor brand.”

Tim Relf, from Farmer’s Weekly, said: “We figured there is so much bad news around at the moment that we wanted to bring a smile to people’s faces with a light-hearted competition.

“With some youngsters reluctant to pursue careers in agriculture, we also wanted to dispel some of the myths about farming and show that it is as much of a fun and sexy business to be in as any other trade or profession.”

Miss Simpson shares her title with Britain’s male sexiest farmer of the year, Pete Mortimore, from Devon.

Miss Simpson has been awarded £250 for winning the title and a pair of wellies as a finalist.
