A PRIMARY school is celebrating after winning all of the top prizes in a painting competition to support the Northallerton Blooming Together event.

Pupils from Sacred Heart RC School in Northallerton created their artwork at the end of the summer term and the work has been on display at Community House over the holidays.

The three children who were awarded the top prizes for their age categories were Ashley Birks, year six, James Morrison, year five and Jena Mitchell, year four.

The overall standard of entries from the school were judged to be so high that all of the children involved in the competition will receive a reward for their efforts.

The three main winners and their arts teacher, Jill Benson, were invited to attend a prize-giving ceremony at Northallerton Town Hall, where they met Northallerton Mayor, Tony Hall, and received certificates, book vouchers and drawing books.

All of the children that took part in the competition received drawing books.
