NORTH Yorkshire Police has appointed a new assistant chief constable to take up duties within the force.

Tim Madgwick will take up the role after spending six months as the acting assistant chief constable (ACC) in North Yorkshire.

Before that he held the rank of chief superintendent as commander of the central area that covers York.

He has spent 21-years in the police and he has held chief superintendent rank in various roles at the force’s headquarters at Newby Wiske, near Northallerton, too.

ACC Madgwick said: "I am delighted to have the chance to serve the people of North Yorkshire and the City of York as an ACC.

"I will seek to improve the confidence that our communities have in North Yorkshire Police.

"I will continue to work with colleagues who are committed to improving standards of customer satisfaction across every aspect of our service."

Jane Kenyon, chairwoman of the North Yorkshire Police Authority, welcomed the move.

She said: "The authority has followed his career closely as he has steadily risen through the ranks and we are pleased to see him develop into a fine leader.

"Chief constable Grahame Maxwell's senior team is now complete and under their leadership, we expect North Yorkshire Police to go from strength to strength."
