A SLIP road on to the A1 in North Yorkshire is to be closed for two weeks to allow major drainage work to be carried out,.
The work is part of the £318m scheme to upgrade the Great North Road to motorway standard between Dishforth and Leeming, It will involve the closure of the A1 northbound entry slip road at Dishforth - junction 24.
The slip road provides local access onto the A1 from Dishforth Road and will affect traffic accessing the A1 from Ripon and from the A168.
Diversion routes via the A61, B6265 and A168 will be signed.
Project manager Michael Church said: "This closure will mainly affect local traffic accessing the A1 from Ripon and the surrounding area.
"Alternative routes are available, but we would advise drivers to allow extra time for their journeys while the closure is in place."
Work on the 13-mile upgrade started in March and should be completed by spring 2012.
