You have to smile at the hypocrisy of it all in politics, don't you?
Peter Mandelson has responded to The Sun's damaging declaration that it no longer supports New Labour in sneering fashion.
He says the paper's readers do not want to see it turned into a "Tory fanzine".
"They want a newspaper, not a propaganda sheet," hissed the former Hartlepool MP.
I don't recall Mr Mandelson talking about propaganda when yesterday's Daily Mirror ran the toe-curling front page headline: "We love Mandy".
Set on pink, with a big red heart, the Mirror declared: "Peter Mandelson breathed new life into Labour yesterday by insisting: "We can win the election - and we will."
Oh, and Lord Mandelson wasn't overly concerned about propaganda when Tony Blair openly courted Rupert Murdoch to win the support of Britain's biggest-selling daily paper 12 years ago, was he?
