YORKSHIRE has beaten off competition from the rest of the UK to win the TravelMole award for best tourism website.
Welcome to Yorkshire’s relaunched site www.yorkshire.com only went live at the beginning of April but was highly commended for its style and depth of information.
The award, voted for by subscribers to TravelMole - the largest global online community for the travel and tourism industry - represents the first official recognition of the tourism agency’s plans to put Yorkshire on the global map.
Chief excessive Gary Verity said: "Our website is our opportunity to sell Yorkshire to the world so we are very proud to have won this award.
"Since its relaunch www.yorkshire.com has seen traffic increase to almost 50 million hits, which is encouraging when there is still so much more to come."
