CAMERA crews have filmed a reconstruction of the last known movements of missing chef Claudia Lawrence for the BBC’s Crimewatch programme.

The shoot at Melrosegate Bridge in York recreated the moment a passing cyclist saw a woman fitting Claudia’s description standing with a mystery man, at 5.35am on the morning she failed to turn up for work on March 18.

Filming began on Tuesday night and continued yesterday, with presenter Rav Wilding following the route that Claudia took to reach work at the University of York from her home on Heworth Road.

The actress at the shoot wore slim-fitting jeans, a white T-shirt, an overcoat and white trainers – the outfit worn by the woman fitting Claudia’s description on the morning of her disappearance.

She stood by the steel railings outside a sub-power station, chatting to the unknown man, who wore a dark hooded top, with the hood pulled over his head, concealing his face, smoking a cigarette in his left hand, echoing the description given by the cyclist.

Crimestoppers have offered a £10,000 reward for information leading to the conviction of those responsible for Claudia’s disappearance but nobody has come forward.

The Crimewatch report will be shown on June 2, at 9pm on BBC1.
