A GROUP devoted to improving the quality of life in one of Hambleton’s market towns is seeking a new leader.

The Stokesley and Villages Community Regeneration Group needs a new chairman as the current holder of the post, Mike Richardson, is stepping down after seven years in the role.

The group exists to communicate the aspirations of the local community and contribute to the Hambleton Community Plan as well as to help community groups turn their ideas into reality.

It plans, delivers and influences proposals that seek to enhance the quality of life for people across Stokesley and the surrounding villages.

"We are looking for someone who shares the group’s vision of building a vibrant community and wants to drive the regeneration agenda forward," said community planning manager Sam Swinbank.

"It is an excellent opportunity to meet and network with individuals and groups across North Yorkshire.

"Being the chair of the group represents an exciting opportunity for anyone wishing to make a positive contribution to their community."
