TEENAGERS have narrowly missed out on having music television channel MTV organise and host their end-of-term ball.
Hurworth School Maths and Computing College came second in the national competition, which had the first prize of MTV providing and holding a prom at the winning school.
To enter the competition, which was sponsored by fashion house Vera Wang, pupils had to create a DVD on why their school deserved a Christmas ball.
Hurworth pupils Katie Coleman, Amy Dove, Jordan Haddick, Hayley Jemmett, Rachel Marshall, Sarah Patterson, Charlotte Stanton got together to make the film, organised by teacher Tony Liddle.
As second prize winner, the school was given one of ten limited edition Apple iPods.
Rita Rees, food technology teacher, said: “Unfortunately, we only came second and got one of ten limited edition iPods. But the students did enjoy putting the DVD together.”
