A COMMUNITY centre is offering evening classes for people who want to start the new year by learning something new.

The Park View Community Association in Chester-le-Street will hold more than 40 classes at its main site in the town centre and at its North Lodge site.

The courses, some of which are run by Durham County Council, will start in the week beginning on Monday (january12).

The subjects include Beginners Spanish, Creative Writing, Family History, Criminal Psychology, Keep Fit Step and Tone, Taekwando, Look Good Feel Good, Tai Chi and Dyslexia Support.

The charges varying and concessions are available for people on benefits and 16 to 18-year-olds who take up county council-run courses.

People who follow courses at the centre must enrol as a member of the association, which costs £8 for a year for an adult, others £5 and family membership £20.
