THE majority of Yorkshire people are happy with the local services offered by the NHS.

According to a survey of local people and patients 73.2 per cent of them were content with the services provided.

The survey, carried out by the NHS, showed 83 per cent of people asked were satisfied or very satisfied with the ambulance service and 82 per cent were satisfied or very satisfied with GP services.

Some 72 per cent said they were satisfied or very satisfied with hospital out-patient services and 74 per cent were satisfied or very satisfied with maternity services.

NHS Yorkshire and the Humber chief executive Margaret Edwards said: "We are delighted with the results of the patient polling and we are happy that the public are satisfied with what we do.

"We have made big steps in reducing waiting times and also driving down the rates of infection and we have also extended opening hours for GPs to make services more accessible for patients and the public."

She added: "The poll is useful because it helps us identify the good things we do, so we can keep doing them and it also shows the areas where we can improve."
