A COUNCIL has teamed up with Rotary Club members to offer to collect Christmas trees for recycling.

Chester-le-Street District Council, in partnership with the town’s Rotarians, will pick up the trees from people's homes today (Tuesday) and on Wed nesday and Thursday(THURS).

This service is provided to raise charitable funds to benefit the Rotary International’s world-wide Polio Eradication effort during 2009, with cash going to the Rotary’s Polio Plus Programme.

Only real natural trees will be recycled - not plastic or synthetic trees.

For those wishing to make use of the service, please contact Rotarian Fred Richards on 0191-388 2312, e-mail: fredrichards@tiscali.co.uk, or, Rotarian Ian Wilson on 0191-410 3876, e-mail: ridley.wilson@talktalk.net.
