BABYSITTER Suzanne Holdsworth walked out of court into the arms of her sobbing family last night after being cleared of murdering a toddler.

The 38-year-old collapsed and had to be almost carried from the emotionally-charged court after the jury returned a unanimous verdict that she did not kill two-year-old Kyle Fisher at her Hartlepool home, in 2004.

It was the second time she had been tried for his murder after the Appeal Court overturned her first conviction when her legal team proved they had new medical evidence to prove the toddler had brain abnormalities.

Last night, her lawyer, Campbell Malone, said he hoped Cleveland Police had learned from the 14-day trial and that Miss Holdsworth wanted an apology.

As the Holdsworth family celebrated her acquittal, Kyle’s family sobbed in Teesside Crown Court and said they would never know what happened to their boy.

Surrounded by her family outside court, a frail and tearful Miss Holdsworth could barely speak as she clung to partner, Lee Spencer.

She said she was “upset and disappointed” at the way the police investigation had been conducted.

Mr Spencer said: “This has always been about Kyle, who was a loveable and loving child, who Suzanne had always loved and helped to look after.

“We know his family deeply loved him and miss him.

Sadly, we now know that he had some bad medical features that led to his sudden collapse and death.

“We hope this knowledge will help his family come to terms with his death.

“This has been a terrible experience for Suzanne and our family and we now just want to try to pick up the pieces of our lives together.”

Kyle’s grandmother, Linda Fisher, said: “Right from the beginning, we only wanted the truth. The jury don’t even know what happened. No one will ever know. There is only two people that know. I have never slept a wink since he died and I never will.”
