VISITORS to A North Yorkshire farm shop this Christmas will be treated to a unique festive display.

Straw sculptures depicting the three wise men and their camels have been constructed by staff at Mainsgill Farm Shop on the A66 near Richmond, North Yorkshire.

The 15-foot high camels, made out of round bales of straw and fence posts, are being led by the wise men which are constructed out of smaller, square bales.

Maria Henshaw, who runs the business with her husband Andrew, said the idea was inspired by a popular resident at the farm - Kevin the camel.

“Kevin has just been moved inside to his winter quarters, so he’s no longer visible to passers by,” she said.

“We do a display each year and this time we thought it would be nice to honour Kevin as he is so popular with visitors.

“We’ve had a lot of positive feedback on the display and we are so pleased with how it looks.

“It is especially effective at night time, when it is lit up to form a beautiful silhouette.”

Mainsgill Farm Shop is open seven days a week, 9am-5pm, selling hampers, beef, sausages and turkeys as well as other festive food.

It is closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day. For more details call 01325 718860.
