A 37-YEAR-old man today denied the manslaughter of a betting shop manager in a row over a bet.
Trevor Hall pleaded not guilty at Newcastle Crown Court to unlawfully killing Jeffrey Hilland.
Mr Hilland, 52, of South Moor, Stanley, County Durham, died of a heart attack on June 6.
The prosecution allege Mr Hilland, who managed the Pagebet betting shop in Front Street, Pelton, County Durham, died after a dispute with Hall about a bet which led to an altercation.
Mr Hilland was not aware that he had a bad heart, the court heard.
Hall, of Hilda Terrace, Chester-le-Street, County Durham, was given conditional bail until the trial on January 5 next year.
The case is expected to last five days.
