Police appeal after 15-year-old girl was hospitalised in hit and run incident in Norton.

The girl was crossing Langton Road between the church and Norton Primary School when she was hit by a small black car.

It is believed to be either a Ford Fiesta or Ka.

The driver of the vehicle did not stop at the scene and the police are asking them or any witnesses to come forward.

She suffered minor injuries and required hospital treatment.

A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: "We’re appealing for witnesses and information about a fail-to-stop collision which occurred at approximately 08:30am on Friday 12 April 2024.

"A 15-year-old girl was crossing Langton Road in Norton between the church and Norton Primary School when she was struck by a small black ford which is believed to be either a Fiesta or Ka.

"Following the incident, the girl suffered minor injuries and required hospital treatment.

"The vehicle did not stop at the scene and we’re now appealing to the driver to come forward and contact us. Our officers are also appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident or who has dashcam footage who has not made contact to also come forward."
