Police are continuing to search for a man wanted in connection with shootings on Teesside last week.

Officers are re-appealing to the public to help locate 21-year-old Liam McElvaney in connection with two firearm incidents earlier this month.

It comes as a 17-year-old boy has this morning (April 12) been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder in the same investigation.

The first incident happened on Richmond Court in Grangetown on Easter Monday (April 1), and the second in the early hours of Saturday, April 6 on Wilton Way.

McElvaney was named as being wanted in connection with the incidents earlier this week and remains at large despite police efforts to track him down.

Cleveland Police said officers had searched a “number of addresses” in a bid to locate him as they reassured residents the attacks are believed to have been targeted.

Superintendent Emily Harrison said: “Liam McElvaney remains outstanding and our enquiries continue to try to find him. There have been a number of address searches carried out for Liam and we are assessing all information that comes in as we receive it, in order to locate him.

“As we continue with our investigation to arrest those suspected of being involved, we will also take action against anyone who is believed to be assisting others in evading police.

“Again, we would like to reassure our local communities that these are believed to be targeted attacks and our officers will remain highly visible in the area to help provide reassurance.”

The 17-year-old remains in police custody and uniformed officers continue to carry out patrols in the area.

Two others, a 43-year-old woman and man of 53, were also arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.
