A 21-year-old man has appeared in court charged with attempted murder in connection with a stabbing in Grangetown on Easter Sunday.

The incident happened at 12.30am on Sunday 31st March in Birchington Avenue.

A man sustained stab wounds and was taken to James Cook Hospital, where he remains in a critical but stable condition.

Kai Wing, 21, of Hill Crescent in Redcar, appeared at Teesside Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday April 2 and was remanded in custody until his next court appearance.

A 20-year-old Darlington woman arrested on suspicion of attempted murder has been bailed pending further enquiries.

Wing was not asked to plead and was remanded in custody to appear at Teesside Crown Court on April 30.
