It is set to be a rainy and blustery day in Darlington and across the North East today as the Met Office predicts heavy showers.

Rain dominates the forecast as we begin a new week with forecasters warning of bursts of heavy rainfall set to hit throughout the day today (March 25).

Beginning from 7am, the chance of rain rises to 90% by 12pm as wind gusts reach 16mph.

These showers are then set to persist throughout the afternoon including into the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Temperatures will reach a maximum of 10C and the sun is due to set at 6:32pm.

Following this wet start to the final week of March, the forecaster has stated that Tuesday will be "largely dry" as they predict "strong winds" later in the week.

“Breezy near the coast, with temperatures on the cool side. Maximum temperature 8 °C.”
