Police have imposed a dispersal order in Middlesbrough town centre after an increase in reports of antisocial behaviour involving large groups of youths on foot and on bicycles.

There have also been reports of intimidation to members of the public, shop staff and criminal damage.

A Cleveland Police spokesperson said: "The order gives officers the powers to ask anyone in large groups to leave the area for 48 hours. Anyone who returns can then be arrested for breaching the order.

"Officers will be conducting high visibility patrols in the area across the weekend and anyone suspected of being involved in antisocial behaviour will be asked to leave the area.

"The area bounded by the order is bordered by A66, Hartington Road, Borough Road, Marton Road."
