Eating at KFC can sometimes be a convenience meal, a late-night snack, or a quick meal on the way to an event. 

However, after looking at the TripAdvisor ratings about KFC in County Durham and Darlington, it is clear there are different calibres of fast food restaurants. 

While there are some good KFCs out there, The Northern Echo has sifted through restaurants to bring you a list of the best and the worst KFCs in our region.

Without further ado, here's the list:

KFC Dalton Park

Church Street, Dalton Park Outlet, Murton, SR7 9HU

Rating: 3.5/5

This is the best-rated KFC in the whole of County Durham and Darlington with plenty of excellent reviews and only one terrible review.

One satisfied customer was quick to write on TripAdvisor: "Quick service, food nicely cooked, good value for money. Very convenient for the cinema. Not fine dining but good filling food."

Meanwhile, an angry customer said: "The food here is mediocre at the best. The customer service is appalling the people working here have an awful attitude. We have tried and tried as it is local to us and wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt."

KFC Darlington

Yarm Road, Darlington Retail Park, Darlington, DL1 4PU​

Rating: 2/5

This restaurant has been handed a two out of five rating from 67 reviews. 

While on the face of it, it's not ideal, not all of the reviews were dire and some people have praised the restaurant on TripAdvisor.

One impressed diner said: "Awesome food, chicken hot and crispy. Used the new table service. The team were friendly, and helpful. Looking tired, but I guess this is down to the age of the restaurant," while one unimpressed customer said: "Chips cold, chicken dry and cold and greasy this the second time this has happened the first time I thought it may be a one-off."

KFC Consett

Front Street, Hermiston Retail Park, Consett Bypass, Consett, DH8 5SB

Rating: 2/5

With 22 terrible reviews, this has been rated one of the worst KFC restaurants across County Durham and Darlington. 

On TripAdvisor, one person said: "Some of my order was missing out of the bag. When I rang up they said they defo put the burger in. The bag hadn't been opened until I got home."

However, another added: "Brilliant service with all the staff being so polite. We love the flaming wraps and always ask for extra sauce."

KFC Durham City

Rennys Lane Unit 11, Durham City Retail Park, Durham, DH1 2RS

Rating: 2/5

With only four excellent reviews, this KFC outlet also has over 35 terrible reviews. 

However, some people have praised the venue, saying: "Not very often I visit fast food establishment. Needed something fast and hot so decided to pay a visit. Cannot say anything against it. £3.99 for Mega box. One fillet of chicken, one drumstick, two wings and large fries. Hot and full of flavour Quick and friendly service."

But another diner said: "Terrible in every way. The order was incorrect, the food was cooked to a crisp and barely warm and the toilets were filthy. The only decent thing was the WAY OUT."

KFC Bishop Auckland

St Helen Auckland, Bishop Auckland, Durham

Rating: 2/5

Despite having six good reviews, there are more bad ones than good ones - but this KFC in Bishop Auckland does have an average review of two stars.

One dissatisfied customer said: "Was looking forward to some chicken but instead of using the drive we went in as I needed the toilet. The urinals were filthy and full of toilet roll, the toilet was covered in sick and the sinks were no better."

However, one impressed customer said separately: "We chose KFC for lunch because we knew they did some lovely little chicken fillets at a reasonable price which wouldn't fill us up as we had dinner arranged, oh how wrong we were the strips were huge but beautiful and succulent."

KFC Bishop Auckland

Pod A, Arniston Retail Park, Durham, DH1 5GB

Another KFC and another two stars out of five stars. The 15 terrible reviews are balanced by just three excellent reviews. 

Here is what diners thought of it. Bad review: "Upon entering the first thing you notice is a filthy litter-strewn floor with cleaning signs dotted around, total bull, no cleaning was done while I was there and a similar thing last time I visited. 

Good review: "I dropped in on this restaurant when I was in the area and being KFC I had high expectations of it - which of course it delivered on. Food lovely, staff friendly and the place was spotless."
