Car wash in Catterick fined £40,000 for employing illegal workers

Express Hand Car Wash, which is based on Richmond Road in Catterick Garrison, North Yorkshire, was handed the hefty fine after home office officials visited last year.

The business was listed within the Government's quarterly round-up of companies that have had penalties issued for the use of illegal workers.

According to the data - which is updated every three months - the car wash company, which is listed as Express Hand Car Wash (NE) Limited on Companies House, has been fined £40,000.

Alongside the Catterick-based business, several other businesses have been fined up to £40,000 for employing illegal workers.

They include Taste of India, which is a restaurant based at 112-114 Parkgate in Darlington and is owned by Nur Spice Ltd.

Mobitech Repair Centre And Accessories, which is based on High Row in Darlington and is listed on Companies House as Tech Repair NE Ltd, was also noted by the Home Office.

Both businesses are understood to have been fined over illegal worker offences.

The Home Office releases the data into the public record four times per year, and the latest data relates to the period of July to September 2023.

Alongside the two Darlington businesses, Ali Barbers on High Street in Stockton, Durham Road Hand Car Wash in Sunderland, and The Madina in Wallsend, Newcastle were also fined by the Home Office for employing illegal workers.
