A County Durham theatre has confirmed it will close its doors for several months while it undergoes construction work.
Empire Consett will be closed from Thursday, February 8 until autumn as the venue undergoes essential roof maintenance.
The building, as well as the café Empire Lounge, will also be closed during the construction period.
A temporary box office in Blackhill and Consett Park will however be open from 10am-4pm om Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
Online and phone bookings will not be affected.

Cllr Elizabeth Scott, Durham County Council’s Cabinet member for economy and partnerships, said: “Empire Consett has been providing entertainment to theatregoers and cinema lovers for over 100 years and we understand it is very much the heart of the community.
“These essential maintenance works to the roof will ensure that the venue can go on to give top quality shows and performances for visitors, in a comfortable and safe venue.”
The venue is due to re-open later this year in time for the autumn season with performances from Leah Bell as well as the pantomime Cinderella.
However, before closing, film screenings of One Life, The Boys In The Boat and The Holdovers are available to see for just £5.
