Seven motorists have been named and fined in court after being caught speeding in County Durham.

We have pieced together court listings from Peterlee Magistrates on January 2, 2024, where these people were listed after speeding in the region in 2023.

Jazmine Moss, 23, of Ramside Park, Durham, was fined £80 and given five penalty points on her license after being caught speeding on the A1(M) motorway from Junction 61, Bowburn, to Junction 60, Bradbury.

Moss exceeded the speed limit in her Mercedes on July 24, 2023.

As part of the sentence given on January 2, 2024, at Peterlee Magistrates Court, Moss must pay a £32 surcharge to fund victim services and £90 costs.

Thomas Robert Day, 59, of Avon Street, Peterlee was clocked driving his Volvo over 30mph on the B1283 Hall Walks in Easington Village, Durham, on June 29 last year.

On January 2, at Peterlee Magistrates Court, Day was ordered to pay a £220 fine for the speeding offence.

He was also instructed to pay a surcharge of £88 to fund victim services and a further £90 in costs, as well as getting three points on his licence. 

Philip Andrew Kennedy, 43, of Staithes Court, Seaham, was caught going over 30mph in his Mercedes on the B1283 Hall Walks in Easington Village.

The offence was committed on June 27, 2023, earning him a £146 fine at a Single Justice Procedure court hearing on January 2, 2024, at Peterlee Magistrates Court.

In addition to the fine and three points, Kennedy must pay a £58 surcharge and £90 towards court costs.

A young Durham motorist has landed hefty fines for exceeding a 30mph speed limit.

Elizabeth Seymour, 21, of Deerness Heights, Brandon, was caught speeding on July 15, 2023, driving her BMW over 30mph on South Terrace, Low Jobs Hill in Crook.

On January 2, 2024, at Peterlee Magistrates Court, Seymour was fined £369, ordered to pay a £147 victim services surcharge, and £90 in costs.

Seymour's driving record was also endorsed with six penalty points.

A Durham motorist has been fined for driving over the speed limit on a restricted road.

Laura Henderson, 33, from The Rise, Consett, was fined £100 and received three penalty points on her driving record after speeding on July 3, 2023, when Henderson was caught exceeding the 30 mph limit on the A693 Blind Lane in Chester le Street.

Henderson was found guilty on January 2 at Peterlee Magistrates Court and ordered to pay the fine, as well as a £40 surcharge, and £90 in costs.

Three points was also added to her driving licence. 

Malcolm Robert Davison, 36, of Pelaw Avenue, Stanley, exceeded the limit on the A1(M) between J61 Bowburn and J60 Bradbury in his Vauxhall car on July 2, 2023.

At Peterlee Magistrates Court on January 2, he was fined £220.

He was also instructed to pay a victim services surcharge of £88 and court costs of £90.

Armstrong's driving record was also endorsed with three points.
