A luxury hotel that boasts a Grade II listed status and a building that dates back to the 1600s has been named one of the best venues in Europe.
With 47 rooms, five restaurants and an extensive garden area among other things, it's no surprise that Grantley Hall in Ripon has been handed a spot in the exclusive Conde Nast list as the best countryside hotel in the UK and named alongside some top spots in Europe.
Despite the historic façade of the venue, Grantley Hall has become modernised by the Sykes family’s restoration project, which includes the pan-Asian Bar & Restaurant EightyEight, Norton Bar or Valeria’s late-night Champagne and cocktail bar.

The inclusion of Grantley Hall in the list also sees luxury spots in London including The Swan at Streatley and The Guardsman, alongside the Cary Arms & Spa in Devon and Lucknam Park Hotel & Spa in Wiltshire.
Elsewhere, locations in Sicily, Palma, Tuscany, and Lisbon have all been included - making Grantley's inclusion more of a feat.
So what makes Grantley Hall so good according to Conde Nast?

"Many have far-reaching views over the grounds, which can also be admired from several outdoor terraces perfect for a summer evening tipple and bite to eat."
The list also added: "Afternoon tea is taken in the Drawing Room, whilst British/European favourites are available in Fletchers and an unforgettable 10-course tasting menu featuring organic ingredients grown on-site is served in the Michelin Starred Shaun Rankin at Grantley Hall.
