The UK's light art biennial will return to County Durham in November - here's how you can get your hands on tickets today.

After months of waiting and anticipation, peak time tickets have been released to the general public for Lumiere 2023 which is set to light up the city from November 16-19.

This year's festival is set to include the "biggest programme yet", after celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2021.

From 4.30pm to 11pm each night, the city will become a nocturnal art experience hosting works made with light on its streets, bridges, buildings and river - from the bustling Market Place, to Durham Cathedral’s UNESCO World Heritage site, historic Bishop Auckland town centre and the prestigious Durham University campus.

For those wishing to visit the festival during "peak times", you will have to register for a free ticket on the Lumiere website.

They are limited, and one account can only book up to six tickets.

Tickets for the general public will go on sale today at 10am, after they were released to pre-registered County Durham residents yesterday (October 3).

Those wishing to visit the festival outside peak time hours do not have to register for tickets.

Following the release of tickets to County Durham residents, some have been enraged after the website "crashed" multiple times.

Customers took to social media to express their frustration, after they were left waiting in queues of up to 500 people for "hours" in an effort to gain access.
