Two people have been taken to hospital following a crash on the A1(M) northbound in North Yorkshire today which involved an overturned car.
Emergency services were called to the A1(M) this afternoon just after 12pm between junctions 48 and 49 near Ripon to reports of a crash involving one car.
The road was closed off for several hours following the crash, meaning motorists faced delays of up to one hour north and southbound whilst the scene was cleared.

Further information from National Highways and AA Traffic reported a vehicle had overturned, causing up to four miles of congestion.
The Yorkshire Ambulance Service (YAS) has confirmed they attended the scene and took two people to hospital.
A Yorkshire Ambulance service spokesperson said: "We got a call at 12:13pm today (October 1) to reports of a single vehicle road traffic accident on the A1(M) northbound between Dishforth and Boroughbridge.
"We dispatched the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and two land ambulances. Two patients were taken to Harrogate District Hospital."
The stretch of motorway has since fully re-opened.
North Yorkshire Police and North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service have been contacted for information.
