A section of Darlington road will be closed this evening (August 8) and tomorrow (August 9) after the council confirmed that roadworks would need to be completed.

Recent roadworks on parts of Woodland Road were completed last weekend between  Milbank Road and Greenbank Road - but, due to weather conditions, some of the work could not be completed.

As a result, Darlington Borough Council have announced that work has been scheduled between 7pm and 6am today and tomorrow.

A spokesperson for Darlington Borough Council said: "The surfacing remedial works on Woodland Road, between Milbank Road and Greenbank Road, were completed on Saturday night, however due to the wet weather the lining could not be installed as the road surface needs to be dry to do this.

"This work will be carried out using traffic lights to minimise disruption to road users.

"Apologies again for any inconvenience."
