Comedian Paul Foot is bringing his new stand-up show to three North East venues this year, and The Northern Echo had a chat with him about what audiences can expect.
Paul Foot is bringing his show, Dissolve, to three venues in the North East; one in County Durham, one in Newcastle, and one in Northumberland.
In his new show, Paul will be breaking new ground as a comedian and as a person. Never has he been so vulnerable, honest, and happy.
Fresh from the Melbourne International Comedy Festival Gala, Paul is raring to go for his UK tour this autumn.

Paul Foot told The Northern Echo: “This show is a bit different, it’s more biographical. It’s a show about mental health and overcoming obstacles and the last 30 years of mental health services and how they’re disappearing. Oh, and it should make people laugh.
“In the past whenever I’ve spoken to journalists about a show I’m doing and they ask what it’s about I usually struggle because it’s usually just a hodge-podge of different things, so I’ll say ‘I talk about this for a bit, and then there’s a bit where I talk about this’, but there isn’t much of a structure of theme. For this show, it’s something different from me, and I hope people like it.
“It’s about, despite the difficulties that pop up in life, there’s always something to laugh about, that’s just real life.”
Dissolve is co-written and directed by Paul’s long-time collaborator and accomplice, comedy writer Aaron Kilkenny-Fletcher.

Paul has a “theory that’s not really a theory” that all people who go to watch stand-up comedy gigs should give stand-up a go.
He also had some advice for aspiring comics who may be hesitant about starting a career in stand-up due to mental health issues. Paul said: “I think comedy is for everyone.”
Paul will be bringing his comedy show to The Stand in Newcastle on October 5, The Witham in Barnard Castle on November 21, and The Alnwick Playhouse on November 22.
