The team at a beauty salon in Darlington is celebrating after winning an award at the English Business Awards.

Rejoy Beauty & Wellness is based on West Auckland Road in Cockerton, Darlington, and the team won ‘Best Beauty Salon in County Durham.’

The Rejoy ladies headed to DoubleTree By Hilton at Newcastle Airport on Sunday evening (Sunday, April 23).

The ladies are over the moon with the victory and they will be travelling to Birmingham for the national final in November.

Erin Joy Harper, owner of Rejoy, said: “We couldn’t believe it, it’s amazing. We were really nervous and it was really unexpected. When we won, we’re all in shock and we just screamed.

“We’re working really hard to open the second salon in May, but it’s really nice to have reassurance I suppose that we’re doing well.

“I think it’s been a sort of confirmation that we’re on the right track and it’s nice to have the recognition.

“For a small business-owner who doesn’t have anyone above them telling them what to do, it’s just amazing.”

The salon specialises in nails, lashes, massage, and hair removal.

The salon also hosts freelance/self-employed therapists such as aesthetics nurses specialising in filler and botox.

Plans are in the works for the new salon to open next month to reach more clients, although an exact opening date is yet to be revealed.

The ladies were up against tough competition from Lindsey Jane’s Beauty based in Norton.

Regarding the second Rejoy salon opening in Middleton St George next month, Ms Harper previously told The Northern Echo: “The last few years have been stressful with the pandemic and everything. We’re just really glad to still be here and have a full team.

“It’s been a bit up in the air for a while now so we just can’t wait to get going with it and meet more clients.

“We support about 12 families with our staff, including mine, so it’s a real gratitude moment, it’s not something that three years ago in Covid we would have imagined possible, so we’re really excited.”
