The visit from Mr Sunak comes a few weeks after he visited the North Tees NHS Trust, which saw him meet doctors and nurses in Teesside.
His trip to Darlington also coincided with significant investment in the town, which will see the demolition of Hogan's pub and several other buildings to make way for a redevelopment of Darlington Railway station.
