Police have provided an update after a crash on a North East A-road which saw an air ambulance called to the scene.
The incident happened at around 3.14pm Northbound from Pittington Road to Robin Lane on the A690.
Police were soon on the scene and the road was closed for a number of hours as a result.
Eyewitnesses and photographs from the scene confirm that an air ambulance was called to the incident.

Now, Durham Constabulary has provided an update on the incident confirming that a man was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
A spokesperson for Durham Constabulary said: “Police were called to reports of a two-vehicle road traffic collision on the A690 at around 2.30pm yesterday.
“The incident involved a Toyota Aygo and a Peugeot 207.
“The road was closed in both directions.

“The man driving the Toyota was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary with life-threatening injuries.
“The vehicles were recovered and the road reopened just after 10pm.”
The Northern Echo has contacted North East Ambulance Service for comment on the incident as well.
