It will be a day of celebrations in one lucky North East street as residents taking part in a prize draw are taking home £1,000 each.

The Postcode Lottery has just announced its winners for the Saturday draw and it includes people living in one DH postcode, DH5 9DA.

Those with tickets on Oswald Road in Hetton-le-Hole will be finding out the news that they have won the mega prize today.

It comes as more than a dozen other postcodes across the UK were today unveiled as the latest to be chosen for the £1,000 sum.

The People’s Postcode Lottery unveils daily prizes for postcodes around the UK including £30,000 jackpots for whole streets.

Lucky players can also benefit from huge jackpots, with life-changing sums of money coming in after a knock at the door.

The People’s Postcode Lottery costs £10 a month to play and there are guaranteed winners every day.

People play with their chosen postcode and are automatically entered into all draws.

A minimum of 33 per cent from each ticket goes to charity and players have raised more than £950 million for over 9,000 charities and good causes since 2005.

Alongside the win for Hetton residents, two NE postcodes - NE8 1RY and NE26 3JE were also picked out to win the jackpot - how lucky.
