A FAMOUS creamery has unveiled its brand new look, just in time for the busy Bank Holiday weekend.
The Buttery Restaurant at the Wensleydale Creamery, Hawes, has been given a brighter, lighter, more airy look, complete with new carpets, blinds, and eye-catching décor.
The restaurant, which serves home made dishes featuring real Yorkshire Wensleydale cheese, provides respite for the creamery's 200,000 yearly visitors. The visitor centre, which also includes a museum, viewing gallery and specialist cheese shop, employs about 33 people.
Managing director David Hartley said: "This investment, which is helping support local jobs, will enhance the centre's experience for visitors.
"This, together with us continually looking to add new recipes alongside our popular traditional cheeses, will make sure the business continues to move forward.
"Wensleydale cheese has a historic pedigree, with it first being made in the Dale in 1150 by Cistercian monks, and we want to give visitors to The Wensleydale Creamery an insight into our heritage as well as demonstrating that we are the home of Real Yorkshire Wensleydale Cheese."
The centre is open to visitors Saturday 9.30am - 5pm, and Sunday 10am - 4.30pm. The "Cheese Experience" tour takes about 30 - 90 minutes, with the best viewing times for cheese-making between 10am and 3pm.
