YOUNGSTERS took a trip into the past - when they were taken on a trip to a building site.
Pupils from Hovingham CE primary, near Helmsley, were invited to a site in the village where Lindrick Homes are to build 25 new homes.
York based specialists On-Site Archaeology are carrying out a dig before the building work begins later in the summer and expert Graham Bruce showed the youngsters around.
"There is nothing of spectacular archaeological interest here but, as with any site, you can get a glimpse into how people in earlier decades lived their lives," he said.
"The pupils were given the chance to handle pottery fragments from the Middle Ages and see the intact remains of what was probably a domestic dog, unearthed by the On-Site team earlier in the day."
