A BUS company is committing a local legend to the side of its vehicles.
Go North-East, which has given names to several of its routes, including The Angel, The Red Arrows and The Lime, is naming a service from Chesterle- Street to Sunderland, The Lambton Worm.
Buses on service 71, which calls at Houghton-le-Spring, will be painted bright green and will have a painting of the dragonlike creature featured in the legend.
From Sunday, the company is promising improved frequencies on the Prince Bishops services, between Sunderland and Durham.
Service 20 will run every ten minutes during the day, from Monday to Saturday, with services every 20 minutes on Sundays.
The X20 will change to service 20X and run during morning and afternoon peak times only, from Monday to Friday.
Commercial director Martin Harris said: "Our continued investment in new and refurbished buses gives us the opportunity to review our services and adjust timetables and routes to better serve a greater number of people.
"These latest improvements are just part of the work we are carrying out to provide even better services for passengers throughout the region."
