AN awareness-raising event aims to help people find out more about climate change and what they can do to reduce its impact.

The session will take place at the Middleton Grange Shopping Centre, Hartlepool, on Tuesday.

It is being organised by Hartlepool Borough Council as part of its on-going Climate Action Campaign, which was launched in December to encourage people to adopt sustainable lifestyles.

A range of activities and attractions are planned.

The Low Impact Living Initiative will advise people on how they can make small changes many areas of their lives to make a difference to the environment.

The Natural Environment Group will give tips on how to make gardens and window boxes more wildlife-friendly. In addition, they will present gifts such as native tree and wildflower seeds.

Hartlepool council's climate change officer, Caroline Gregory, said:"We all have a role to play in limiting the impact of climate change, but some people might not be aware of what they can personally do to help make a difference."
