A TEENAGER today denied killing an elderly taxi driver in a row over the fare.
Dale Patterson, 18, pleaded not guilty to the manslaughter of 72-year-old Raymond Quigley, who collapsed after taking a late-night passenger from Newcastle to Sunderland.
Mr Quigley, of Nursery Lane, Gateshead, died in the early hours of September 2 last year after dropping a fare off in the Ryhope area.
Patterson, of Manila Street, Sunderland, also denied making off without payment.
He will stand trial at Newcastle Crown Court on August 11 and the case was listed for five days.
The teenager's conditional bail was extended by Judge Esmond Faulks.
