YOUNGSTERS from a music school have raised £1,000 with a charity concert.
Nearly 30 pupils of the Terence Lawson School of Music presented the money to Cancer Research UK this month.
The funding was raised from a concert at St John's Catholic School and Sixth Form Centre in Bishop Auckland in December.
Each of the 28 youngsters who took part in the concert performed a solo spot before joining together to sign as a choir. As well as ticket sales, cash was raised by a raffle.
Mr Lawson, whose school is based in Newton Aycliffe, said he was proud of his pupils for working so hard and giving their time for the cause.
"All the pupils did really well and we feel it was a fantastic effort," he said.
