Durham's leading points scorer, Paul Elderkin, has been selected to represent English Universities at the forthcoming British University Games in Edinburgh.

Paul Elderkin, from John Snow College Durham, will be part of a star studded team including players from the super powers of University basketball such as Worcester, Leeds Met and recently crowned BUSA Champions, London South Bank.

Elderkin has been an integral member of the Durham University side throughout the season, and played a pivotal role in securing the BUSA National Plate title for Durham in mid February. He has also been just as important to the University's partner club, the Durham Wildcats, most recently helping to inspire his team to a 71-68 victory at home against, top off the table, Leeds Met Carnegie.

International selections are nothing new to Paul, who has previously played for England under 18's and Great Britain U20's. Similarly, the selection does not come as a surprise to Durham University; the team is packed with players of genuine quality and the programme continues to gather pace.

With the guaranteed addition of at least another three players over this summer's break, the team will be hot favourites to gain back to back' promotions in the University BUSA competitions; and it is not too long before the club expect to be competing on a level playing field with the current BUSA heavy weights.

Meanwhile Durham Wildcats extend their search to strengthen their team for the new Season. Wildcats have taken steps to watch players in the remaining National competition play-offs and have extended their Scouting network to include Canada and the USA, with a view to unearthing at least one quality overseas player for September.
