A Darlington Hotel has reopened its walled kitchen garden to guests.

Rockliffe Hall Hotel, in Hurworth-on-Tees, has launched its restored kitchen garden which provides produce for the hotel’s award winning kitchens and restaurants.

Chefs at the hotel use the seasonal produce from the garden in their dishes and guests can learn the story behind their food from the gardening team.

The gardens were built in 2017 but have been revitalised with blooming beds, pathways, a formal yew hedge and centrepiece seating area for visitors to relax.

They will be open daily from 9am.

The Northern Echo:

Phil Mennel, Estates and Gardens Manager at the five-star Rockliffe Hall Hotel said: “This project wouldn’t have been possible without the outstanding work of our estates team who have worked tirelessly throughout the cold and wet winter months to make the development what it is today.

“We’re thrilled to bring this concept to Rockliffe Hall and hope guests get chance to enjoy the gardens on their next visit.”

The Northern Echo:

Guests will be able to see gardeners growing tomatoes, onions, chillies, garlic, and many other fruit and vegetables, and take a stroll through the hotel’s wildflower meadows, while 10 new beehives will help to pollinate the garden and produce fresh honey.

Rockliffe Hall has been working with the 'Eco People in Croft and Hurworth' (EPICH) community volunteer group on the project, which looks to improve biodiversity and the surrounding environment.
