A TOUR guide is offering two short walking tours in County Durham to coincide with the Lumiere festival.

Ken Bradshaw, a fully insured and trained member of the Institute of Tourist Guiding and the British Guild of Tourist Guides, promises two fact filled and fascinating short walking tours on Friday, November 19.

He is running both for residents to explore and learn a bit more about the county and to share his passion for the area with tourists who may be visiting Durham for the UK's biggest light festival, Lumiere, which takes place from Thursday, November 18 to Sunday, November 21.

Mr Bradshaw said: "The first at Barnard Castle starts at the Bowes Museum with a commentary on this magnificent market town with its incredulous Baroque museum, the gorgeous butter market and St Mary’s Church coupled with a 12th century castle and fascinating history of the town itself. The tour starts at 10.30am.

"On the same day, in the afternoon at 3pm, a tour of Durham City starting in the market place begins with an overview of the city’s historic past, its medieval heartland and the UNESCO World Heritage Site with its 900-year-old cathedral and castle."

Tickets are via Eventbrite and cost £10 each and spaces are limited to ensure maximum enjoyment and to be Covid compliant.
