A MAN'S body has been discovered on a nature reserve.

Two members of the public found the deceased man in Castle Eden Dene, Peterlee, just before 1.30pm on Friday.

Durham police has not released any details about the cause of his death but a spokesperson said a post-mortem examination is due to be held today. (Monday, June 1)

Officers investigating the death said the body was found in the area behind the Apollo Pavilion, the 1960s concrete public artwork also known as Pasmore's Pavilion.

They have appealed to anyone with any information to call Durham Constabulary on 101 quoting incident reference number 188 of May 29 or alternatively, call Crimestoppers on 0800-555111.
