A WOMAN has been taken to hospital following a four vehicle accident on North Road, Darlington.
Fire brigade personnel freed the woman from her car before she was transferred by ambulance to Darlington Memorial Hospital.
Police have described her injuries as "significant".
The road has been partially closed while investigations are carried out.
The accident happened at about 11.25pm on Thursday.
