A TEENAGE boy was remanded in custody today charged with the murder of a 22-month-old baby.

The 17-year-old youth, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared before magistrates in Scarborough accused of killing Charlie Johnson.

The baby died in hospital on May 17 - a day after being found with a head injury in the towns Maple Drive after a neighbour reported seeing a person carrying a baby.

The teenager is also accused of sexually assaulting Charlie Johnson and a six-year-old boy.

The teenager was remanded in custody and will next appear at Scarborough Youth Court on Tuesday.
