A FARM shop from the region has been named as a finalist in the Guild of Fine Foods.

Roots Farm Shop, near Northallerton, is a finalist in the Best Shop Awards by the Guild of Fine Foods.

It has gone through two rounds of judging this summer, including an announced visit from one of the judges and a mystery shop.

Katherine Brown, owner of Roots, said: “We are overwhelmed at being named Shop of the Year finalists.

"This August is our 10th year in retail and it would mean so much to the Roots team to be recognised for the great work they do by a highly regarded organisation such as the Guild of Fine Foods.

"The awards are an opportunity to really put Roots on the map."

The awards take place on September 20 in London.
