A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of murder following the discovery of a woman's body in Redcar.
The man, 59, was arrested following the discovery of a woman’s body in William Street, Redcar earlier today.
The identity of the woman has not yet been confirmed. A post-mortem will take place to confirm the cause of death.

A spokesperson for Cleveland Police said: "A 59-year-old man has been arrested in Station Road, Redcar on suspicion of murder.
"The man was arrested following the discovery of a woman’s body in William Street, Redcar earlier today (Wednesday August 15).
"The identity of the woman has not yet been confirmed. A post-mortem will take place to confirm the cause of death.
"An investigation is ongoing and officers are appealing for anyone with information to call 101."

Officers smashed their way into the three-storey property which is less than five minutes walk from the house where the body was discovered.
One resident said: "We don't really know anything about what has happened but the house that is sealed off is where an old woman lives alone.
"There has been a number of burglaries in the area recently and I just hope that it isn't connected to them.
"The police aren't telling us anything at the moment but they are obviously investigating a serious crime."
